This is a list on the artistes that took the year 2019 by storm in no particular order:

Naira Marley

Naira Marley as known as Afeez Fashola, clearly took 2019 by storm, he was one of the most tending topic on social media in 2019, even after been arrested and taken to court by the EFCC on counts of advance fee fraud but people saw that as the turning point in his career as the people had divided opinion on the arrest and trial of Naira Marley, and after a month he was released from custody and since then his career was on the rise with most of his concerts selling out and released an EP called LOL (lord of lamba)

 

Davido

Davido (David Adeleke) also had a great 2019, with him bagging an international collaboration with American top artists like Chris brown, Quavo  and Jamaican artists popcaan, he released jams that took the airwaves like Risky, Blow my mind and so much more, and he engaged his Sweetheart Chioma, and he witnessed the birth of his first child and he released his latest album called “A Good time”.

 

Wizkid

Wizkid (Ayo Ibrahim Balogun) had also had a nice 2019, he released an EP called Sound man and he also sold out his concert but during the wake of violence at the venue of one of his concerts a police officer shot and killed on of the fan who came for the concert, and Wizkid took quick actions to ensure the perpetrator of the act didn’t go unpunished, Wizkid also sold out his concert at the O2 arena.

 

Teni

Teni (sister to another artist Niniola) was a revelation in 2019 as she told the Nigerian music industry by storm, she started off as a songwriter and then transcended into a musician and dropped hits like case, uyo meyo, and she bag some nice collaborations and bagged awards, she did her first ever concert in 2019 and there was a large turn out, so she also had a 2019 to remember

 

Zlatan

Zlatan was also a force to recon with in 2019 as he is seen as the one who brought the Zanku dance onto the Nigerian music scene and he is the most featured artist in 2019, he was the most sort after musician in the Nigerian music scene

 

Burna boy

Burna boy enjoyed obviously enjoyed his 2019, with him releasing his album and also getting a Grammy nomination, sold out most of his shows bagging endorsements and features with prominent international artistes around the world and also bagging numerous awards

Rema

Rema now this is another revelation of 2019, signed under Don jazzy’s Mavin record label this young boy took the Nigerian music industry by storm with hits like DUMEBI, Why, Bad commando, and he released an EP, he is seen as the future of Nigerian music mainly because of his versatility and if he builds on his success this year he will become one of the greatest Nigerian music acts

 

Fireboy

Fireboy signed under olamide’s YBNL record label fireboy took Nigeria by surprise in 2019 with his song Jealous which went on to become a classical hit and he built on that by releasing other hits like “if I say” “scatter” and so on, he arguably doesn’t have a bad song with all his songs being hits, he released an album and h he was invited to various shows concerts across the country.

 

Joeboy

Joeboy signed under Mr eazi, Joeboy also had an exciting 2019, he “kick-started” his music career and released some good music like “baby” and “beginning”, all he just has to do is to build on his success in 2019 and he can become a force to reckon with years to come

 

Kiss Daniel

Kiss Daniel also had a nice 2019, with his album “No bad songs”, and his concert grew controversy as it was on the same day with wizkid’s “starboy fest”

 

Olamide

Olamide had a rather subtle year than the other years, as his highlight was the sixth edition of his yearly concert OLIC, and he had a few hits and collaborations
