Why did Fiverr stop the buyer request option on its website or app? The reasons are many. Fiverr users, comprised of Fiverr sellers and buyers, woke up to see that the buyer request option was no longer active. That was sometime in August or September, 2022. Fiverr indicated that the buyer request option will not be used again. It stated that it would ensure that buyers are well-matched with sellers.

What is the Fiverr buyer’s request?
Buyer request is the opportunity that Fiverr created for its buyers to state exactly what they want and the type of service that they need. The Fiverr algorithm will then show the request to sellers whose profile and gig description match what the buyer requested. The seller then responds to the buyer’s request and gets the job done after agreeing on terms and conditions with the buyer.
Why did Fiverr stop buyer requests?
I have thought it through and come up with the following reasons that lead to the stoppage of the buyer request.

- Many buyers used the buyer request to lead the Fiverr sellers to their websites or blog.
On many occasions, the sellers will be asked to visit a series or a list of blogs to see what the job they are to do is all about. These visits can lead to clicks for the buyer who owns the blog or website that the seller visits. Such buyers can be known as they will not eventually buy from any seller. Such buyers will ask the sellers to mention something on the clicked site before they respond to the buyer’s request. many bloggers need visitors, but is this a good way to get visitors?
2. Many Fiverr sellers place buyer requests to get information from other Fiverr sellers
Some Fiverr sellers use the buyer request to get information about the service being offered or their gigs from fellow sellers. they, however, disguise themselves as buyers to do this. Such people want to see how other sellers on Fiverr respond to specific requests or tasks and their prices. They aim to get an advantage over their competitors with such information. But is it ethical to disguise to get information from competitors?
3. Some buyers use the buyer request to make outrageous demands
The seller’s gig description should suffice on the service and its terms. But with the buyer’s request, many buyers make unexplainable demands from sellers. Some sellers oblige them because they know some others may be willing to do the job as it is. Such buyers who do this will promise the sellers that the job is ongoing and that the seller will be patronized frequently and continuously. It happens that the buyer buys cheap and leaves.
4. Some buyers use buyers’ requests to make sure the jobs are done outside of Fiverr
Some buyers use the buyers’ request to take jobs out of Fiverr and receive payments outside Fiverr. The basic aim of this fourth anomaly is to avoid the Fiverr commission. What can be more demeaning? Fiverr provides the platform for both to meet and transact business, and then both go out of Fiverr to do business. If every buyer and seller does this, how will Fiverr be able to maintain the site and pay bills to its staff?

In conclusion, all these and more are why Fiverr stopped buyers’ requests. I feel it is vital that we all do business with the integrity of mind and purpose. That is the only way to ensure that our clients keep coming back and we all win.
